Kiki Dee, Vocals/Keyboards
Carmelo Luggeri, guitar/Vocals

This was a performance as good as any that I have witnessed, with just herself and Carmelo Luggeri on guitar to fill the stage she did it with ease. Firstly Carmelo is a FANTASTIC guitar player, producing sounds that you will struggle to find elsewhere, blend this with the superb vocals that Kiki provides and you are bound to be impressed, even if this is not really your musical style preference. Together they produce music that lets you choose between becoming deeply involved with performance or simply letting the music wash over you as you relax and enjoy the moment. Slight downer for me was their interpretation of Kate Bush "Running up that Hill", any reinterpretation of a Kate Bush song is brave and for me this lacked the magical x-factor that makes it work - but what do I know? - Check them out for yourselves and make your own minds up, I think it will be worth it.

The modern day reincarnation of one of the seminal 70s chart topping bands, 10cc paid a visit to The Plymouth Pavilions with just Graham Gouldman as surviving founder member to lead the way. The fact that the posters had 10cc followed by, Graham Gouldman and friends in brackets underneath should have told story of the night to expect. Wall Street Shuffle started the trip down memory lane and from there on all the classic 10cc hits were present and correct, The things we do for love, Dreadlock Holiday, Rubber Bullets and of course, I’m not in love, they were all delivered to, and received with enthusiasm by a large audience eager to witness the work of a band that has been around in different guises for 35 years. This was no high energy stage show, there was no complex stage set, even the sound quality was a bit off, but to sit and watch a band I grew up listening to on the radio was a treat. The bonus section came in the middle when some of Grahams songs for other artists were given an airing, No Milk Today recorded by Hermans Hermits, For Your Love by The Yardbirds, Building a bridge by Wax and the best of the lot, Bus Stop penned for the Hollies and for me best surprise of the night. Although it was a generally quiet audience with just a few up and dancing throughout, Dreadlock Holiday got most out of their seats, unfortunately it was the last song of the main set, but it led the way to much cheering and foot stomping for the obligatory encore, and the re-emergence of the band saw the night finish with a great version of Rubber Bullets to send the die hard 10cc fan home happy in the knowledge that the 10cc hit list was at last complete.
